Kristin Long was born and raised in Northern Virginia. She received her Bachelors of Science in chemistry from the University of Virginia and truly enjoyed her work as a chemist. However Kristin wanted to impact people on a more personal level so she started her career as a professional organizer after five years as a chemist. Kristin’s main goal in her new profession was not to change people but to show them how life can be improved through basic organizational steps, techniques, and time management skills. Organizational Specialists Inc. was created to help people reach their full potential through this balanced, organized perspective.

Less than one year after starting her new career Kristin was featured in her first of four episodes for HGTV’s Mission Organization. Each episode highlighted a key point in Kristin’s organizing philosophy. Siblings face empty nest exemplified the concept of visual organization; making the room visually appealing so the occupant wants to keep it organized. Garage Gouge showed that even those skeptical of organizing can enjoy the process. Hobby Room Overhaul illustrated the necessity of fully completing the project before moving on to the next. Getting the Garage in Order demonstrated the need to categorize items, arrange them according to their purpose, and label for visual recognition. Although she did not start her career in the organizing industry Kristin has always been known for her organizational skills. Even as a child she preferred to have color coordinated school supplies and topically organized binders. Combined with these organizational skills, Kristin’s unique ability to quickly analyze the situation, effectively communicate the solution to her clients, and efficiently complete each project have made her a highly sought after consultant in the organizing industry. Not limited to homes, Kristin has organized corporate executives and has presented at many speaking engagements including the State of Florida’s Workforce Initiative and the Realtors Association of Miami Dade County. Kristin has also been featured in the Miami Herald and the Raleigh News & Observer and written articles for Our City Weston, a South Florida Magazine. Kristin lives in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida with her husband Scott and two dogs Samson and Bo. She enjoys volunteering and is an active volunteer for Kids in Distress and Step it Up, Inc. |
